Factorylux pendant chandeliers and vintage wall lights have been installed for the renovation of the foyer of the Hebden Bridge Picture House. The chandeliers - with high performance LED-Filament lightbulbs - create a striking impression as you enter the cinema.
The Picture House in Hebden Bridge started showing films in 1921 and has kept its doors open through a series of challenges. It was nearly converted to a carpet warehouse in the 1960s, came close to demolition as part of a redevelopment scheme in the 1990s, and most recently survived a serious flooding when the middle of Hebden Bridge was submerged under six feet of water on Boxing Day 2015.
The foyer of the Picture House has been renovated in an art deco style with purple and gold finishes and furnishings and a wooden counter with bold geometric designs. An original art deco clock which once hung in the foyer was rescued from a cupboard, stripped of layers of paint and repaired. The restored clock now hangs above the counter.
The Factorylux pendant chandeliers hang in the middle of the foyer. Each one has 19 drops with a metre of burgundy fabric cable and a Bakelite lamp holder. The high performance Factorylux large globe LED-Filament lightbulbs are used to give the fitting an authentic vintage look while minimising energy use.
The LED-Filament bulbs are A+ energy rated and have excellent light output (620 lumen, warm colour temperature and excellent colour render). The lifespan of the bulbs is 25,000 hours - running at six hours each day, the bulbs will last the Picture House well into 2027.
Factorylux Maria wall lights are also installed in the foyer. The wall lights are in antique bronze and complement the dark red wall colour. The wall lights are fitted with the pear-shaped LED-filament bulbs. The Hebden Bridge Picture House has an eclectic programme of film screenings (evenings seven days a week, matinees at weekends and school holidays, and an elevenses screening every Thursday morning). There is also a programme of live events from major stand-up comedians to international music acts.
