Understanding the space can be a big help when it comes to finding the right fixtures. Before you start shopping, familiarise yourself with bathroom zones. If you can concentrate lighting in the unzoned areas, you open up a world of possibilities. For the centre of the room, the only limit is space. You’ll want something with a lot of output as this fixture will be doing most of the heavy lifting. If you can keep it out of the dreaded zones, plump for a contemporary chandelier.

If we’re heading into the zones, you’ll want to keep an eye on the IP rating. Unless you plan on submerging a light in the bath, aim for IP65 and you should be all good. A bulkhead is a classic addition and plenty contemporary for most schemes.
